Eventually, The Fruit Will Come

For awhile now, I've been checking on our nectarine tree.

Every season, I'd walk outside hoping to see fruit. Every season, I'd look closely at the branches, wondering if this would finally be the year.

When we first planted it, we were excited.

We imagined baskets of nectarines, summer harvests, and all the fruit it would one day produce.

But year after year, we waited.

And waited.

And waited some more.

Then this year, something changed.

Tiny nectarines appeared.

Small. Easy to miss. But they were there.

And as I stood there looking at those little pieces of fruit, I felt God reminding me of something many of us desperately need to hear:

Eventually, the fruit will come.

The Hard Part Nobody Talks About

Most people get excited about planting the seed.

We love beginnings.

We love fresh starts.

We love new dreams, new goals, new opportunities, and new directions.

We plant the seed believing in the harvest.

But what nobody talks about is the space between planting and harvesting.

The waiting.

The uncertainty.

The wondering if anything is actually happening.

The moments when the ground looks dry.

The moments when the rain doesn't seem to come.

The moments when everyone else's garden appears to be flourishing while yours looks unchanged.

That's often where discouragement settles in.

That's where doubt begins whispering.

That's where the enemy tries convincing us that nothing is working.

The Danger of Uprooting the Seed

One of the greatest mistakes we can make is uprooting what God is growing.

Sometimes we become impatient and start digging up the seed to see if it's working.

Sometimes we compare our field to someone else's.

Sometimes we decide their seed must be better than ours.

Sometimes we abandon the very thing God called us to because we don't see immediate results.

But what if the roots are growing?

What if God is doing His deepest work beneath the surface?

What if the delay isn't punishment but preparation?

Roots grow long before fruit appears.

And without deep roots, the fruit could never be sustained.

God's Process Isn't Complicated

God never asked us to manufacture the harvest.

He asked us to plant.

To trust.

To remain faithful.

The farmer doesn't wake up every morning demanding fruit.

He waters.

He waits.

He tends the soil.

He trusts the process.

Likewise, our responsibility is not to force growth.

It's to remain planted.

To stay positioned where God has called us.

To keep showing up.

To keep trusting.

To keep believing.

Because when the seed is planted in the right soil, growth is inevitable.

Position and purpose matter.

God knows exactly what He planted within you.

And He knows exactly what it will produce.

What If Nothing Seems to Be Happening?

Maybe you're waiting for healing.

Maybe you're waiting for clarity.

Maybe you're waiting for open doors.

Maybe you're waiting for the business to grow.

Maybe you're waiting for the relationship to be restored.

Maybe you're waiting for God to answer a prayer you've carried for years.

Friend, don't lose heart.

Just because you don't see fruit doesn't mean God isn't working.

The roots may be growing deeper than you realize.

The waiting is not wasted.

The silence is not absence.

The delay is not denial.

God is often doing His greatest work underground.

Eventually, the Fruit Will Come

Standing there looking at those tiny nectarines, I couldn't help but smile.

The tree wasn't barren.

The harvest wasn't forgotten.

The fruit was simply taking time.

And maybe that's exactly what God wants you to remember today.

Stay planted.

Stay faithful.

Keep trusting.

Keep tending the soil.

Keep showing up.

The fruit may not arrive according to your timeline, but if God planted it, He will sustain it.

Eventually, the fruit will come.

And when it does, you'll realize that every season of waiting prepared you for the harvest that was ahead all along.

"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9
