When The Opposition Comes, Press Forward Anyways

Have you ever noticed that the moment you decide to move closer to God, step into a new opportunity, pursue healing, or walk in obedience, resistance seems to show up?

You finally gain clarity, and doubt creeps in.

You start moving forward, and fear starts whispering.

You feel called to something greater, and suddenly confusion, worry, and discouragement seem to surround you.

I've experienced this more times than I can count.

Deep down, you know God has something good ahead. You know He's leading you somewhere new. Yet somehow, you find yourself feeling stuck, walking in circles, and wondering why moving forward feels so difficult.

The truth is, opposition often shows up when we're headed in the right direction.

The enemy would love nothing more than to keep us distracted, discouraged, and parked on the sidelines. If he can keep us focused on fear, he can keep us from experiencing the freedom, growth, and purpose God has for us.

But here's what I want you to remember today:

The enemy does not get the final say over your life.

God does.

Let that settle into your heart for a moment.

Not fear.

Not doubt.

Not your circumstances.

Not what someone else says.

God.

And because God has the final say, you do not have to let opposition determine your direction.

Opposition Doesn't Mean Stop

One of the biggest mistakes we make is assuming that resistance means we're supposed to quit.

Sometimes we think:

"Maybe I heard God wrong."

"Maybe I'm not capable."

"Maybe this isn't meant for me."

But what if the resistance you're experiencing isn't a sign to stop?

What if it's simply a reminder to stay close to the One leading you?

Throughout Scripture, God's people faced opposition.

Joshua faced opposition.

David faced opposition.

Nehemiah faced opposition.

Even Jesus faced opposition.

Resistance is not evidence that God has abandoned you.

Often, it's evidence that God is growing your faith in the middle of the journey.

What Do You Do When You Feel Stuck?

You stand on what is true.

When fear speaks, return to God's promises.

When discouragement settles in, open His Word.

When you feel weak, ask others to pray with you.

When your thoughts become loud, worship anyway.

When doubt tries to convince you to quit, take the next faithful step anyway.

Sometimes pressing forward isn't a giant leap.

Sometimes it's simply refusing to give up today.

Sometimes it's writing Scripture on sticky notes and placing them around your home.

Sometimes it's listening to worship music on repeat.

Sometimes it's sending a text asking for prayer.

Sometimes it's choosing to believe God one more day.

This Too Shall Pass

Friend, if you're in a season where everything feels chaotic, I want to remind you of something.

This opposition will not last forever.

This struggle will not define your future.

This moment will not take you out.

God is still working.

God is still moving.

God is still faithful.

When everything around you feels uncertain, fix your eyes on Jesus.

Look to the cross.

Remember who has already won the victory.

The battle for your future has already been settled through Christ.

You do not have to strive for what God has already promised.

You do not have to earn what He freely gives.

You simply need to remain faithful and keep moving forward.

One step.

One prayer.

One day at a time.

Press Forward Anyways

So if opposition has been knocking at your door lately, don't be surprised by it.

Don't let it intimidate you.

And don't let it convince you to quit.

Stand firm.

Stay close to God.

Ask for help when you need it.

Declare what is true.

And press forward anyways.

Because eventually, what feels like resistance today will become part of the testimony God uses tomorrow.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being with me in every season. When fear, doubt, and discouragement try to pull me away from what You have called me to, help me stand firm in Your truth. Remind me that You have the final say over my life and future. Give me courage to keep moving forward, even when I cannot see the whole path ahead. Strengthen my faith, surround me with wise people, and help me trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
