It’s Time To Love You More
“You don’t need to fix you. You need to love you”
This morning during my prayer time, I was sharing my goals, dreams, and desires with God.
I was talking to Him about the things I want to improve, the areas where I want to grow, and the places in my life that still feel unfinished.
Then I felt Him gently whisper:
"You don't need to fix you. You need to love you."
A few moments later, I sensed Him say:
"Come back to love. Come back to Me."
Those words stopped me in my tracks.
The Trap of Trying to Fix Ourselves
If I'm honest, I've spent a lot of my life trying to fix myself.
Fix my health.
Fix my weight.
Fix my habits.
Fix my finances.
Fix my business.
Fix my schedule.
Sometimes I've even found myself believing that if everyone around me would just get their act together, life would feel easier too.
Maybe you've been there.
We tell ourselves that once we finally arrive—once we lose the weight, reach the goal, organize the house, grow the business, save the money, or become a "better version" of ourselves—then we'll feel at peace.
Then we'll be enough.
Then we'll be happy.
But the finish line keeps moving.
And instead of feeling free, we end up exhausted.
The Lie Behind the Striving
I've come to realize that one of the enemy's favorite lies is convincing us that we are projects that constantly need fixing.
He keeps our attention focused on what's wrong.
What's missing.
What isn't good enough yet.
How far we still have to go.
The result?
We spend our lives striving to become someone else instead of embracing the person God already created us to be.
We become so focused on changing ourselves that we forget to receive the love God is already offering us today.
Not when we reach the goal.
Not when we finally get it all together.
Today.
Right here.
Right now.
What God Showed Me
As I sat with the Lord this morning, I realized something.
My struggle was never really about improving myself.
It was about learning to receive love.
For years, I've approached growth from a place of self-correction rather than self-compassion.
I've treated every weakness like a problem to solve.
Every setback like proof I wasn't doing enough.
Every goal like evidence that who I am today isn't quite enough yet.
But God gently reminded me:
Growth rooted in self-rejection will always leave us exhausted.
Growth rooted in love leads to freedom.
The goal was never to obsess over becoming someone different.
The invitation was to faithfully steward who I already am.
Stewardship Over Self-Fixing
God isn't asking us to ignore growth.
He's not saying our goals don't matter.
He's not telling us to stop pursuing health, healing, purpose, or dreams.
He's inviting us to pursue those things from a different place.
A place of love instead of lack.
A place of acceptance instead of shame.
A place of stewardship instead of striving.
When we understand that we are already loved, already accepted, and already enough in Christ, we stop chasing our worth through achievement.
We begin caring for ourselves because we are valuable—not because we're trying to become valuable.
That's where everything changes.
What If You Stopped Fixing This Week?
What if this week you stopped trying to fix everything?
What if you stopped believing the lie that you're behind?
What if you stopped measuring your worth by your progress?
What if you slowed down long enough to receive God's love exactly where you are?
What if you rested in the body you have today?
What if you gave thanks for this season, even if it's not the season you would have chosen?
What if you trusted that God is already at work in you?
Because maybe the breakthrough you're looking for isn't found in working harder.
Maybe it's found in receiving more love.
"We love because He first loved us." — 1 John 4:19
A Prayer for You
Father, thank You for loving me exactly where I am today. Help me release the pressure to constantly fix myself and earn what You have already freely given. Teach me to receive Your love, walk in Your grace, and steward this season well. Show me how to see myself through Your eyes and trust the work You are doing within me. Remind me that my worth was settled at the cross and that I can grow from a place of love rather than striving. Amen.
Reflection Question
What is one area of your life where God may be inviting you to stop fixing and start loving?
Take a few moments today to sit with Him and ask:
"Lord, where am I striving when You're inviting me to rest?"
You might be surprised by His answer.
Friend, it's time to love you more—not because you've earned it, but because God already does.
